Switch 2 Display Stand: How to Choose a Color for Your Setup

A console left on a desk or sitting in a pile of cables does not look like part of a setup. The Switch 2 Display Stand gives it a place to sit, and the color you choose changes how the whole desk reads. Here is how to pick.

What the Stand Does

The stand is $42 and keeps your Switch 2 on display on a desk or shelf. It tidies up a gaming setup and is made for gaming setups, bedrooms and gifts for gamers. It comes in seven colors: pink, red, green, purple, blue, black and yellow.

Choosing a Color

  • Black: the safest option. It blends into most desks and works with any other accent.
  • Blue or purple: a good match for rooms with cool lighting or a blue, purple or teal color scheme.
  • Red: pairs with red accents, such as a red and white light box.
  • Green: a fresh accent for a desk with plants or wood tones.
  • Yellow: bright and playful, and easy to spot on a dark desk.
  • Pink: a soft accent that stands out in neutral rooms and suits a bedroom setup.

Pick a Color Strategy

  1. Match: choose a stand in the same color as your main accent, like blue with a blue lit sign.
  2. Contrast: pick a bright stand to pop against a black or white desk.
  3. Neutral: choose black and let your lighting or decor carry the color.

Build the Rest of the Desk

The stand pairs well with a lit piece behind it, such as the Red Bull Light Box, which is $44, 10 by 7 inches and USB powered, and the Retro Amp Phone Speaker Stand, which amplifies your phone with no power needed. Keep the console stand at the front, the lit piece behind it, and leave space for the controller.

Buying It as a Gift

If you are not sure of the person's favorite color, black is the safe choice, and the person's other gear is a good clue. Look at their controller, headset or keyboard and match it. For more gift ideas, read gift ideas for gamers: desk and shelf picks.
