Home Bar Wall Ideas with Vintage Round Light Boxes

A home bar wall needs one thing above all: a light source that looks warm and a little nostalgic. Vintage-style light boxes do that without the weight or heat of old signs.

Choose the anchor

Start with the one piece that sets the tone. For a classic bar look, the Jack Daniel's Hanging Double-Sided Light Box hangs from a black wall-mounted arm on chains. The Old No. 7 label shows in white on black, and the panel is lit from both sides, so it can be seen from either direction. The light box panel measures 7.3 by 9.6 inches.

Layer in round designs

Round light boxes pair well with a hanging sign because their shape is different. The Coca-Cola Bottle Round Double-Sided Light Box has a glowing yellow ring around the classic script and bottle. The Ford Motor Co. design, the Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Oil design and the Michelin Service Station design suit bars with a garage or workshop feel. Each round box is about 8.8 inches across and 2 inches thick.

Spacing for a bar wall

  • Hang the largest piece at about eye level above the bar or shelf line.
  • Leave a gap of about the width of one box between pieces.
  • Keep the group to three light sources at most, so the wall feels glowing rather than crowded.

Power and cables

All of these plug in by USB, so you can run them from a wall adapter or a power bank. The round boxes have hollow bracket arms that hide the wire, which keeps the wall clean. Our guide on powering and placing USB light boxes covers cable options in more detail.

Finish the wall

Add one flat piece, such as a framed print or a wall clock, to break up the lit surfaces. Keep shelves below the lights simple so the glow is the focus.
