Gift Ideas for Whiskey Fans and Home Bar Owners: Light Boxes and More
Share
Buying for someone with a home bar is easier than it sounds. They already have the glasses and the bottles, so the best gifts are the pieces that give the room character. Here are options from our shop that fit a bar, a basement lounge or a man cave.
Start with the Jack Daniel's light box
The Jack Daniel's Hanging Double-Sided Light Box is $66. It shows the Old No. 7 label in white on black, on a double-sided illuminated panel that hangs from a wall-mounted arm on chains. The panel measures 185 mm x 243 mm (7.3" x 9.6"), is powered by USB, and the black arm and chains are included. It is described as best for home bars, man caves and garages. Our comparison of hanging and round light boxes helps if you are choosing between styles.
Add a round light box
The Coca-Cola Bottle Round Double-Sided Light Box is $66 and has a glowing yellow ring around the classic script and bottle. It is double-sided, USB powered and comes with wall-mount brackets. It is a good pick for a kitchen, diner corner or game room. For a different mood, the Ford Motor Co. round light box suits a garage bar.
A smaller option
If the budget is lower, the Retro Red & White Light Box is $50, about 10 inches wide and works on a shelf or desk. It is a neat fit behind a bar cart or on a floating shelf.
Little extras for the bar top
- The Spiral Lattice Decorative Bowl ($35) works as a catch-all or centerpiece, for decorative use only.
- The Ribbed Pedestal Tray starts at $35 and can corral small items.
Choosing for the person
Ask what the room already has. A dark wall suits a light box because the glow stands out. A bright, busy wall might need a smaller piece in a quieter spot. If you are not sure about brand preferences, a neutral piece like the Retro Red & White box is a safe starting point. Wrapping it up
Light boxes are easy to gift because the box itself is the surprise. Add a note saying where you imagine it hanging. Browse the full Light Boxes collection for more vintage brands.
